UPDATE: Police take down suspected drug trafficking ring

UPDATE — FRIDAY, MARCH 31ST, 2017 7:00 P.M.

Detectives with the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) have announced the arrest of three more people suspected of being involved with a drug trafficking organization.

With help from the Michigan State Police Wakefield Post, the following arrests were made:

-Harvey Albert Reaver, 37: Two counts of delivery of methamphetamine

-Melissa Sue Reaver, 38: One count of delivery of methamphetamine

-Jennifer Elizabeth Smith, 29: Three counts of delivery of methamphetamine

All three suspects reside in Ontonagon County. They were arraigned Friday in Ontonagon County District Court.

Additional arrests are pending.

IRONWOOD — Following a five month long investigation, a suspect was arrested on multiple counts including, maintaining a drug house.

Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Enforcement Team (UPSET) arrested a 35-year old man on Thursday in Ironwood. After a five month investigation, the suspect was arrested on one count of delivery of methamphetamine and one count of maintaining a drug house.

In addition, detectives assigned to UPSET and the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team, executed a search warrant at a cabin in Ontonagon County where the suspect lived. Several firearms, stolen property, and several grams of crystal meth were seized from the property.

Detectives also observed evidence that identified the suspect being involved in the distribution of meth. The suspect is currently lodged at the Gogebic County Jail. His name is being with held this time, pending arraignment. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.

UPSET was assisted on the scene by the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team, Michigan State Police Wakefield Post, Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department, and the Gogebic Iron Area Narcotics Team.
