Authorities rescue man who allegedly went over bridge

HOUGHTON — Emergency crews responded to a report of a man who had gone over a bridge.

At approximately 1:40 P.M. on Friday, officers arrived on the scene where there was a subject in the water near the Portage Lake Lift Bridge. Houghton Police Officers, Michigan Tech Public Safety Officers, and Hancock Police Officers pulled the subject from the water. The subject was then transported to UP Health System Portage.

The extent of the man’s injuries are unknown at this time and the incident remains under investigation.
