School district closes for rest of the week due to illness

GWINN — Gwinn Area Community Schools will remain closed for the rest of the week due to illness.

Superintendent Tom Jayne tells ABC 10 at least eight teachers would be unable to teach Thursday and Friday because they are sick. The school district was closed Tuesday and Wednesday due to illness.

The school’s custodial staff has spent the last two days disinfecting school buildings. Jayne says they will do it again Thursday and Friday.

So far this school year, Gwinn has missed two days due to inclement weather and will miss four days due to staff members and students being sick.

Classes will resume on Monday.
