U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan announces resignation
GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Patrick Miles, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan, announced he will be resigning from his position effective noon on January 20.
Miles informed President Obama and Attorney General Loretta Lynch of his decision on Wednesday. He has served in this position since July of 2012 following a two-decade long career as a business attorney in Grand Rapids.
While in office, Miles prosecuted the first federal sex trafficking case in the Western District and obtained over 100 convictions related to sexual exploitation of children using the internet. He was also responsible for the convictions in two fraud cases whose sum total equaled over $161 billion.
Miles said he was “…extremely blessed and grateful for the opportunity to serve the public in this capacity over the past four and a half years.”
