Young woman injured in two-vehicle accident

SOUTH RANGE — An 18-year-old woman was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident Saturday night just north of South Range.

According to the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office, the Ahmeek woman was traveling north on M-26 just after 9:00 p.m., when she lost control of her vehicle.

The woman slid sideways into the southbound lane, striking another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle, a 26-year-old Hancock woman, was not injured.

The unidentified Ahmeek woman was transported to UP Health System – Portage for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Adams Township Fire and First Responders, Mercy Ambulance, MDOT, Superior Service Towing and Big-T’s Towing all assisted at the scene.
