Man in critical condition after two-vehicle accident

ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP — An out-of-state man is in critical condition tonight following a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in Ishpeming Township.
At approximately 12:20 p.m., troopers with the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post responded to the emergency situation at the intersection of US-41 and Cooper Lake Road.
Gavin Gibson, 29, of Montana, pulled off of Cooper Lake Road to head east on US-41 towards Marquette, when he was struck by a truck driven by Frederick Furneaux, 51, of downstate Lapeer. Gibson, who failed to yield to Furneaux, was struck on the driver’s side. His SUV rolled over onto its side as a result of the collision.
Gibson was rushed to the hospital and is listed in critical condition at UP Health System – Marquette. Furneaux and his wife were both treated and released from UP Health System – Bell.
The crash remains under investigation.
