State Police investigating inmate death
KINCHELOE — The Michigan State Police is investigating the death of an inmate at the Kinross Correctional Facility in Kincheloe.
Michigan Department of Corrections spokesperson Chris Gautz tells ABC 10 the deceased inmate is Charlie Lee Anderson, 51. On Monday, inmates in one of the bunkhouses notified prison staff that Anderson was in need of medical assistance.
Prison staff and emergency personnel rendered medical aid to Anderson. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The cause of death will be determined by the Chippewa County Medical Examiner. Anderson was serving time for 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct and unarmed robbery.
