Injury at Tilden Mine sends one to the hospital
TILDEN TOWNSHIP — Cliffs Natural Resources has confirmed with ABC 10 that an employee at the Tilden Mine was injured and taken to the hospital Sunday morning.
According to Patricia Persico, director of Global Communications for Cliffs, the accident happened at approximately 10:30 a.m. A Cliff’s employee was spotting rail cars within the operation’s reagent barn area when he was struck by a floor plate.
The injured employee was taken to a local hospital. Due to privacy protocols, the company will not release any further details on the name of the employee and their condition.
Cliffs is conducting a formal investigation of the incident.
