UPDATE: Police find body of missing boater
UPDATE — Thursday, September 8th, 2016 4:00 p.m. (EDT)
The Delta County Sheriff’s Office has recovered the body of a missing boater.
At approximately 12:16 p.m. Thursday, the Delta County Sheriff’s Office Marine Division recovered the deceased, identified as Tom Petruszak, from the surface of Little Bay de Noc.
Police say Petruszak jumped into the water to save a friend he was fishing with who lost his balance and fell into the water. The incident happened around 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
No foul play is suspected and the investigation is complete.

The search for an Illinois man who went missing in Little Bay De Noc Saturday continues.
Deputies from the Delta County Sheriff’s Office say that searches were conducted Monday and Tuesday and will continue into Wednesday. Gladstone Public Safety joined the search on foot last night along the shoreline.
The man in question went missing Saturday afternoon just before 2:00 p.m. when a wave crashed against the boat he and two others were on outside the Terrace Bay Inn. His name has not yet been released.
ESCANABA — An Illinois man is missing after a boating accident over the weekend in Little Bay De Noc.
Deputies from the Delta County Sheriff’s Office say they were dispatched for a report of a person in the water around 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Three men from Illinois were fishing in a boat in front of Terrace Bay Inn when a wave hit the boat and caused one subject to be thrown overboard. One man jumped in an attempt to rescue the person.
A passerby rescued one man from the water and started searching for the other but was ultimately unsuccessful. A search was conducted of the area that day with no results. On Sunday morning, the Michigan State Police Dive Team was on scene conducting a search using side scan sonar.
As of Monday morning, the man has still not been located.
