Man arrested, charged in high speed pursuit case
IRON RIVER — Police have made an arrest in a recent police chase that resulted in the injury of a passenger riding in the suspect’s vehicle.
Tyler Roy Polich, 20, of Iron River is charged with second degree fleeing & eluding causing injury. He was arraigned in Iron County District Court Friday morning.
Polich is lodged at the Iron County Correctional Facility on a $5,000 cash bond.
Police say Polich was behind the wheel Sunday when officers tried to pull him over. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.
A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Seth Stoychoff, exited the vehicle during the pursuit. He’s currently listed in critical condition at U.P. Health System – Marquette.
Due to a conflict of interest, Iron County Prosecutor Melissa Powell asked the Michigan Attorney General’s office for a special prosecutor. The AG’s office appointed Houghton County Prosecuting Attorney Michael Makinen as the special prosecutor.
