Boy with autism rescued from drowning in lake, in critical condition

UPDATE — We have new information tonight about the young boy rescued from a lake in KI Sawyer Sunday Evening.

The boy has been identified as 8–year–old Izayah Pedrin of Curtis. Pedrin was pulled from Little Trout Lake just after 5:00 p.m.
CPR was being performed as first responders arrived.

Pedrin was taken to UP Health System – Marquette and was later flown to the University of Michigan, where he is listed in critical condition.


KI SAWYER — At approximately 5:05 p.m., Forsyth Township Police, Marquette County Sheriff, Forsyth Township Fire & EMS, and UP Health System EMS responded to Little Trout Lake, on KI Sawyer, for a report of a drowning incident.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel learned that an eight-year-old child with autism drowned in the lake. The victim had been pulled from the water by citizens when he was discovered, and CPR was being performed upon emergency personnel’s arrival.

The child was treated at the scene and transported to UP Health Systems.

The condition of the boy is unknown at this time and the name and further details will be released at a later date.
