UPDATE: Two confirmed injured in accident near movie theatre

UPDATE — 11:29 a.m. June 13th, 2016 (EDT)

Authorities have confirmed that two people were injured in a crash on US-2 in Quinnesec on Saturday evening.

Deputies from the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office say the accident happened just before 9:15 p.m. at the intersection of US-2 and Baler Drive. An 18-year-old Iron Mountain man was making a left turn onto Baler Road when he turned into the path of a westbound car operated by an 18-year-old Vulcan woman.

The extent of the drivers’ injuries is unknown at this time. Deputies are still conducting additional investigation into the incident.

QUINNESEC — Just before 9:30 p.m., the East Kingsford Volunteer Fire Department, police and emergency crews responded to a two-car accident in front of Tri-City Cinema 8 in Quinnesec on US-2. According to witnesses on the scene of crash, one person was trapped and had to be extracted from the car with the Jaws of Life.

East Kingsford Fire Department, Breitung Township Fire Department, R-300 Michigan State Police, Iron Mountain Sheriff’s Department and Iron Mountain Police Department responded to the scene. Beacon Ambulance and EMT crews attended to at least two injured people.
