Red Flag Warning issued for Upper Peninsula
NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP — Warm, dry weather has brought the danger of fire to the forefront in the Upper Peninsula once again.
The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning early Monday morning for the entire Upper Peninsula and parts of northeast Wisconsin. A combination of warm breezy weather and low relative humidity resulted in the warning. Citizens are asked to avoid burning today.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is not permitting open debris burning in any county in the U.P. at the moment. Click here to view the DNR’s Burn Permits Map.
The Red Flag Warning is expected to be in effect until 8:00 p.m. EDT. Stay with ABC 10 for the latest updates.
