High speed motorcycle chase leads to arrest
CALUMET — One person is behind bars after leading police on a 60-mile chase Wednesday in the Copper Country.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., a trooper from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post attempted to pull over a motorcycle for speeding on Houghton Canal Road. The suspect fled from the officer at a high rate of speed.
The suspect led police on a chase through Houghton and Portage Township on M-26 before surrendering on M-38 near Woodspur Road just outside of Ontonagon.
The suspect was arrested on multiple felony charges and is currently lodged in the Houghton County Jail. Houghton City Police, Houghton County Sheriff’s Department and the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department assisted the MSP in the chase.
