Traffic stop leads to marijuana bust

A Caspian man has been charged with delivering and/or manufacturing marijuana.
Fifty-two year old Gerry Thibert was arraigned on that charge and habitual offender – second offense in Iron County District Court. Thibert was arrested after police found five pounds of processed marijuana during a routine traffic stop.
Thibert faces four years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine on the marijuana charge. He’s due back in court for his preliminary exam on April 18th.
CASPIAN — A recent traffic stop has led to the arrest of a Caspian man on marijuana charges.
An ongoing investigation between the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team and the United States Postal Inspection Service led to the arrest of a 52-year-old man for possession with intent to deliver marijuana. Police discovered over five pounds of processed marijuana during the traffic stop.
The man’s name has yet to be released pending arraignment. Troopers from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post, the Caspian/Gaasta City Police K-9 and the Michigan State Police Hometown Security Team assisted UPSET Detectives and the USPIS in the investigation.
