Elderly person dies in house fire
GLADSTONE — A structure fire has claimed the life of an elderly person.
Just after 5:15 p.m. Thursday, police and volunteer firefighters from Gladstone and Escanaba were dispatched to a structure fire on the 500 block of Loueda Avenue, located in the South Bluff area of Gladstone. The structure was filled with smoke when emergency responders arrived.
The structure fire was quickly knocked down. An 87-year-old individual did perish in the fire. Their name is not being released at this time.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Michigan State Police Fire Marshal is looking into the incident.
