Governor names Interim Director for DEQ
LANSING — Governor Rick Snyder announced earlier today that a Michigan Tech alum who works for the state will hold the position of Interim director for the Department of Environmental Quality.
Snyder announced Michigan Department of Natural Resources Director Keith Creagh will serve in the position effective January 4th.
Creagh’s job will be to guide the DEQ through it’s leadership transition period following the resignation of former Director Dan Wyant. Creagh has served as DNR director since 2012 and has past experience with state departments dealing in environmental and human health safety issues like the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Governor Snyder says Creagh will hold this interim position until they find a permanent replacement, but he did not say how long that could possibly take.
Dr. Bill Moritz will serve as interim director at the DNR.
