Three lost hikers found safe and sound
MARQUETTE — Three sisters were found after getting lost hiking in a local mountain area.
According to officials at the Marquette County Sheriffs Department, 20-year-old Maria Kuopus of Minnetonka, Minnesota, 20-year-old Bridgette Kuopus and 14-year-old Anna Kuopus, both of Ishpeming were hiking in the Hogsback Mountain area when they got lost.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. The sisters reportedly built a fire, called 911 and waited for searchers to arrive.
The searchers used the GPS location from the 911 call to locate the hikers.
Officials say they were found in good health and escorted back to their vehicle safe and sound.
