Two sent to hospital after collision
PORTAGE TOWNSHIP — Police investigated a two-vehicle personal injury accident at the intersection of Main Street and Paradise Road in Portage Township.
The Houghton County Sheriff’s Department said the crash occurred when a Ford pickup truck driven by an 18-year-old man from Dodgeville pulled out from Paradise Road onto Main Street into the path of a car driven by a 25-year-old Dodgeville woman. The woman was unable to avoid colliding with the pickup and struck the pickup on the driver side causing major damage to both vehicles.
Both parties involved were transported to UP Health System – Portage by Mercy Ambulance for treatment of their injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The driver of the truck was cited for failing to yield at a signed intersection.
The Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Hurontown Fire Department, Big “T’s” towing, Dave’s Towing, and Mercy Ambulance.
