Skiers get excited for the season with some “new” gear
MARQUETTE — The temperature was perfect for skiing Friday, but we don’t have enough snow just yet for that to happen.
Those looking to get a jump on some different gear for the upcoming ski season can do that this weekend in Marquette. The Marquette Mountain Racing Team will hold their annual Ski Swap Saturday from 10:00 until 2:00.
All day long, people stopped by the ski shop to drop off their gently used skiing items that will be for sale. The ski team will receive twenty percent of the profits from the swap. They hope to raise between six and eight thousand dollars for the upcoming season.
“This year we have a lot of great things from skis to boots, we have some Nordic equipment. The more people that come, the more people that can get great deals. It helps out the Marquette Mountain Racing Team, which helps us buy equipment for the kids and helps support coaching and kids having fun and staying out of trouble,” said Chris Dehlin, an MMRT Board Member.
MMRT has one hundred early bird tickets for sale. The ticket, which costs ten dollars, gets you into the ski swap one hour earlier than everyone else.
