Power line ignites tree
POWELL TOWNSHIP — A potentially scary situation was averted on a windy morning in Powell Township after a tree fell on a power line.
Powell Township Fire Department officials say they were called to the scene on County Road KCI shortly before 6:00 a.m. Wednesday. Initial reports indicated that the tree had caught fire and the fire had begun spreading to the surrounding woods.
When firefighters arrived, they instead found that the fire was isolated to the fallen tree, and they were able to extinguish the flames in about ten minutes. They kept watch over the scene until a crew from Alger–Delta Electric arrived to remove the tree from the line.
No one was injured in the incident.
