Armed robbery suspect enters plea agreement
MARQUETTE — One of three suspects in an attempted armed robbery incident in Marquette appeared in Marquette County Circuit Court Friday morning.
21–year–old Stephon Akins pleaded guilty to one count of attempted breaking and entering of a building with intent. Prosecution recommended that Akins be placed in the Special Alternative Incarceration (SAI) program once he is sentenced.
“The agreement here appears to suggest to me that the attorneys agree that the court should permit it, but whether you’re actually deemed eligible is up to the Department of Corrections,” said Judge Jennifer Mazzuchi.
Akins was arrested along with two others in connection to an attempted armed robbery on Fair Avenue in Marquette back in May. He will be sentenced September 25th.
