Police remind citizens to keep dogs under control

IRON MOUNTAIN — Police in Iron Mountain are reminding citizens to keep control of their dogs.

The Iron Mountain Police Department says that on at least three occasions in the last few weeks, dogs in the city have left their own property and attacked other dogs being walked by their owners. Dog owners are responsible for controlling their pets and keeping them on their own property.

The city does have an ordinance in reference to vicious dogs. According to the Iron Mountain Code of Ordinances, dogs known to have a propensity to injure or threaten the safety of people or domestic animals are not allowed to be unconfined, must be securely muzzled and leashed when taken off property, and owners of such dogs must display warning signs.
