UPDATE: Ishpeming armed robbery suspect arraigned
UPDATE — 11:55 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 (EDT)
The suspect in the armed robbery at the Snyders Express Pharmacy in Ishpeming was arraigned in Marquette County District Court Friday morning.
33-year-old Ryan Allman of Negaunee was charged with one count of armed robbery. That is a felony punishable by up to life in prison. Allman has a probable cause conference set for July 7th. He will also have a preliminary examination on July 16th.
UPDATE — 4:16 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015 (EDT)
Police have now confirmed that an arrest has been made of Negaunee man in an armed robbery of Snyder’s Rx Express Pharmacy in Ishpeming.
Ishpeming Police Chief Dan Willey said police were called out to the Snyders Express Pharmacy on Main Street shortly before 9:00 a.m. A man robbed the pharmacy at gunpoint. He took two bottles of narcotics and fled from the business.
“The pharmacy was robbed at gunpoint, and the suspect took off out the back door,” said Willey. “We did recover a fake gun in a dumpster in the alley down from the pharmacy.”
With the assistance of K-9 units from Michigan State Police and Marquette City Police Department, a track was followed to the Marquette Street area where someone was taken into custody. The person fled on foot through the woods. Upon further investigation, this person was cleared of the Ishpeming robbery and fled from police for a different reason. He was released after being cleared.
Police used video footage of the suspect throwing something away in a dumpster behind a local restaurant. A plastic toy gun was later recovered from the dumpster.
Shortly before noon, a report of someone being in a residence in the 100 block of Midway Drive in Negaunee Township who was on warrants, prompted police to search the area. Troopers made contact with the suspect who was staying in a storage shed on the property. He matched the description of the man seen in video footage. Troopers recognized clothing and other items. Upon further search, evidence was found linking him to the robbery.
He is being held in the Maruqette County Jail pending review of the case by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s office.
The Ishpeming Police were assisted by the Michigan State Police, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, Marquette City Police, and the Negaunee Police Department. The suspect’s name is not being released at this time. ABC 10 will provide updates as more information becomes available.

“The pharmacy was robbed at gunpoint, and the suspect took off out the back door,” said Willey. “We did recover a fake gun in a dumpster in the alley down from the pharmacy.”
K-9 units from the Michigan State Police and City of Marquette Police were called out to assist in the search for the suspect. Police believed they had located the suspect on Marquette Street shortly before 10:00 a.m., but it was found that the person apprehended was not involved in the robbery.
A surveillance system picked up video of the suspect in the alley behind Buck’s Restaurant.
“[It was] pretty scary for the ladies down at the Snyders having to go through this, so hopefully we can help them out a little bit and catch this guy quite quickly,” said Ron Johnson, owner of Buck’s Restaurant.
The suspect is described as a white male in his early to mid twenties, wearing a black wide and flat brimmed hat with a green symbol, a red and black backpack, a grey sweatshirt, and jeans. Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
