UPDATE — 7:15 a.m. June 19, 2015 (EDT)

Deputies from the Delta County Sheriff’s Office have released the name of the man killed in Wednesday night’s accident. 29-year-old John Miron of Bark River was the driver of the southbound car.

The passenger of the that car and two passengers from the westbound truck remain in the hospital. The crash is still under investigation.


DELTA COUNTY — One person is dead after a two-vehicle accident in Delta County Wednesday night.

Deputies from the Delta County Sheriff’s Office say they were dispatched to the scene on E.5 Road just north of M-69 shortly after 7:00 p.m. A vehicle with seven occupants was traveling westbound on Felch Grade Trail when it failed to stop at an intersection, striking a vehicle driving southbound on E.5 Road. The southbound vehicle had two occupants.

Eight of those involved in the accident were transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital, and one was sent to UP Health System – Marquette via Valley Med Flight. Police say the driver of the southbound vehicle sustained fatal injuries.

The accident remains under investigation. Deputies were assisted by the Michigan State Police, the MSP Crash Reconstruction Unit, Escanaba Public Safety, Bark River Township Fire and EMS, Rampart EMS, Valley Med Flight, and Gene’s Towing.
