Toyra Jr., others sentenced in Circuit Court
MARQUETTE — A Delta County man was sentenced in Marquette County Circuit Court this morning for his role in a fatal motorcycle accident last August.
William Toyra Jr. of Rock was visibly upset at his sentencing. In March, he plead no contest to Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death.
On August 23, 2014, Toyra Jr. was riding his motorcycle on M–35, when he crashed his bike into the Happy Hour Bar in Gwinn.
A female passenger riding with him died as a result of the crash.
Because of a pending civil case, Toyra did not speak about the matter. Judge Jennifer Mazzuchi sentenced Toyra to 33 months to 15 years in prison. His original deal of 29 to 57 months was thrown out because of a bond violation. Toyra did not stay away from alcohol while he was free on bond.
24–year–old Aaron Wesolek of Marquette was also sentenced in Circuit Court. He pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of assault with intent to commit sexual penetration. Wesolek was arrested last May.
An investigation by police found that Wesolek had developed an online relationship with his 14–year–old victim. According to police, Wesolek had brought the girl back to his apartment last April. He was sentenced to 10 months in jail with credit for time served and five years probation.
Joseph Domako also appeared in court for his sentencing. The downstate St. Clair Shores man was arrested by police in December for attempting to cash suspicious checks in the Marquette Area. Per a plea agreement, Domako was sentenced to 86 days in jail with credit for 86 days served.
Two Ishpeming men were arraigned on drug charges. 24–year–old Bradley Merrills and 37–year–old Daniel Tonge were arrested on March 2nd by the Ishpeming Police Department on multiple methamphetamine charges. Merrills and Tonge will be sentenced on May 22.
41–year–old Kevin Houle of Gwinn was in court for his arraignment. He was arrested last month for allegedly firing a weapon at an unoccupied car and fleeing from police.
Houle was originally charged with three misdemeanors and a felony. He pleaded guilty to fleeing and eluding in the third degree.
Houle will return to court on May 22 to be sentenced.
