Firefighters battle a structure fire
FORSYTH TOWNSHIP — Thanks to the efforts of a few fire departments, a couple of animals and a building was saved this afternoon in Forsyth Township.
Around 2:45 p.m., the Forsyth Township Fire Department was called to a structure fire at a livestock and storage barn near Jacks Hideaway on M–35.
The structure caught on fire with animals still inside the building. Upon arrival, firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire within five minutes.
There is no official word yet this evening on how the fire started. Not all of the animals were able to get out in time. A couple of pigs did perish in the fire.
Fire departments from Richmond Township and Sands Township along with Marquette County Rescue 131 all assisted at the scene.
