Woman to re-pay $100K for stealing from a veteran
ESCANABA — An Escanaba woman has been ordered to pay $100,000 in restitution to a resident at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans that she stole from.
37-year-old Frances Kreft was ordered to repay that sum in Delta County Circuit Court this afternoon. Additionally, she was sentenced to nine months in jail and five years probation.
The Escanaba Department of Public Safety arrested Kreft back in November after a lengthy investigation. She was originally charged with Embezzlement From a Vulnerable Adult, $100,000 or more.
Kreft pleaded down to the lesser charger of Embezzlement from a Vulnerable Adult, $20,000 or more.
