NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP — Snow is on the way once again.

The latest batch of winter weather is expected to begin later tonight and last through Friday morning. Depending on where you live in the U.P., you could see anywhere from three to ten inches of wet, heavy snow.

According to the National Weather Service, it’s not a huge surprise to see a snowstorm or two at this time of the year.

“Anytime in April and even into the early part of May we usually see one or two bigger storms,” said Steven Fleegel, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service. “We had that big storm right at the beginning of November and that produced a lot of our snow. After that, our snowfall has really been below normal for most of the winter. For snowfall totals, this is a much needed snow.”

For those of you waiting on spring to arrive, Fleegel said that more spring–like weather, with temperatures in the low to mid 50s is on the way soon.
Fleegel added that towards the end of April, temperatures will most likely be in the 40s, which is about where we should be for this time of the year.
