NMU extends Kyle through 2016-17 season
MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University Director of Athletics Forrest Karr announced Friday a new employment agreement for head hockey coach Walt Kyle through the 2016-17 season.
“Walt and I have spoken several times over the past two weeks and he expressed his vision for the future of our program,” said Karr. “I believe in the group of student-athletes coming back and expect the team to be strong over the next two years.”
“I’m extremely happy to have signed a new contract,” said Kyle. “I love the community, the university and the hockey program here. I am extremely proud of it and am happy to be a part of it moving forward. I would like to thank the administration for their trust in myself and our staff and I truly believe these next few years are going to be bright years for our program.”
Kyle just completed his 13th season at the helm of the Wildcats program. Kyle owns a 237-224-56 career record.
