UPDATE: Wisconsin Trooper, alleged robber killed

UPDATE — 4:30 p.m. March 25, 2015 (EST) — The Wisconsin Department of Justice and the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office released the names of the trooper and suspect killed Tuesday night in Fond du Lac, Wis.

The Wisconsin State Trooper Trevor Casper was killed while exchanging gunfire with Steven Timothy Snyder, who is the man believed to behind Tuesday’s bank robbery in Wausaukee.

Additionally, the Wisconsin Department of Justice says Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve reported that the man shot and killed Tuesday afternoon after an encounter with Snyder was Thomas C. Christ of Wausaukee.

A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper is among one of three people dead after he exchanged gunfire with an alleged bank robber on Tuesday.

ABC affiliate WBAY reports that the trooper, identified as Trevor Casper, exchanged gunfire with the alleged bank robber in the town of Fond Du Lac around 5:30 CST. Both men died at the scene.

UPDATE — 7:09 a.m. March 25, 2015 (EST)

One man is dead after an alleged bank robber fled south through Wisconsin.

The robbery happened just after 1:30 Tuesday afternoon. Deputies from the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office say that reports indicated a the lone male entered the State Bank of Florence in the village of Wausaukee, Wisc., where he displayed and fired one round from a handgun and proceeded to rob the bank of cash. He then left in a stolen bank employee’s vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office received another call about an hour later regarding a male victim found near a pickup truck that was still running on Jermac Road, just east of Wausaukee. Officers believed the victim was in his sixties, and he was found to be deceased. The stolen bank employee’s vehicle was located after searching the scene, and officers concluded that the suspect had fled in another vehicle and may have encountered the victim and shot him.

The suspect and vehicle were identified by the FBI, Wisconsin Department of Justice, and Sheriff’s Office, and it was later learned that the suspect and vehicle were spotted in Fond du Lac by a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper. The suspect allegedly exchanged gun fire with the trooper.

The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office does not feel the public is in danger any longer concerning the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and the name of the victim is being withheld. More information will be released by the Wisconsin Department of Justice and Fond du Lac authorities. The Fond du Lac Police Department has not yet released any more information as of Wednesday morning.

MARINETTE COUNTY, Wisc.— Bank robber on the loose in the Wisconsin.

Police are asking for your help in locating the suspected robber.  The robbery happened just after 1:30 this afternoon. Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Suave and his team are looking for a white male, suspected of robbing a bank in the Village of Wausaukee.

He is described as six feet tall, thin build, late 20’s or 30’s. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, grey shoes, grey sweatshirt, orange reflective/mirrored glasses and a ball cap with a black front, white back and orange lettering. He is believed to be armed and dangerous.
