Police seek tree vandals
MARQUETTE — The Marquette Police are asking for the public’s help in a malicious destruction of property case.
At least an acre of trees on the nine hundred block of South Lake Street were cut down and destroyed somewhere in the neighborhood of January twenty third.
The city owns the trees that were cut down between the bike bath and Lake Superior. There’s no estimate yet on how much damage was done to the area.
Detective Lt. Mike Kohler with the Marquette City Police said, “Between the areas of the bike path and right of ways, there’s a lot of areas that the city owns outside the typical parks and community. You have to be conscious of the fact that somebody else owns this property and it could be city or municipality owned property, especially in those areas where bike paths, parks, and beach front is concerned.”
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Marquette Police.
