Man shot by police arraigned on attemped murder charge, remains in hospital

SAULT STE. MARIE — A Sault Ste. Marie man who allegedly held a woman hostage is still in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound he sustained when a police officer shot him for not following police commands.

Scott Brown, 29, is charged with attempted murder and interfering with electronic communications.  He was arraigned Tuesday by Chippewa County District Court officials, but did not appear in court.

Brown is being held on no bond, and is expected to be booked in the Chippewa County Jail once he has recovered.

The officer who shot Brown is on administrative leave pending the completion of the investigation.

Brown’s next court date is scheduled for December 22.
