Man accused of selling bear parts appears in court

HOUGHTON — A man who was the subject of a lengthy undercover investigation by the DNR for selling bear parts appeared in Houghton County District Court Wednesday.

Danny Loyd, 56, of Chassell, is facing six counts including selling bear parts and operating a taxidermy business without a permit.  The charges are all misdemeanors.

Loyd’s attorney, Matthew Tingstad, requested the case be postponed for another three weeks so that he could speak with his client and the prosecutor about how they will move forward on the case.

Loyd is out on a $500 personal recognizance bond.  His next court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
