MARQUETTE — Polls open for Election Day at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow, and today, both parties are spending time on last-minute preparations.

We visited both the Marquette County Democratic and Republican headquarters today. Both had office workers diligently detailing plans and working the phones while candidates spent the day canvassing, trying to sway voter opinion as well as increase voter turnout.

“It hasn’t been really stressful, it hasn’t been really relaxed, but it has been busy,” Marquette County Democratic Party treasurer Bob Niemi said. “We’ve had a good group of volunteers that have come out each day during the get-out-and-vote campaign, and we will be having some more this evening yet, and tomorrow we will have the final push for getting out and vote.”

“Chasing around trying to get things organized for tomorrow, as it’s our big night,” Marquette County Republican Party chairman Brendan Biolo said. “We have to make sure all of our volunteers are in place at the polls. We are trying to make sure that everything at the polls is covered, we are having a little gathering here so I am trying to make sure we have all the goodies ready for when people come tomorrow night, because tomorrow night could be a long night.”

The polls close tomorrow at 8:00 p.m., and both parties will have viewing parties at their respective headquarters.
