Names released in Escanaba murder
An Escanaba man could face life in prison after allegedly murdering a mother of two.
Kallay Batchelor, 36, was arraigned Thursday morning in Delta County District Court. He is charged with homicide/open murder/statutory short form.
Batchelor is accused of murdering Heather Diane Batchelor in a home on Stephenson Avenue early Wednesday morning in Escanaba. When police officers arrived on scene, they discovered Heather dead with a knife protruding from her throat. The investigation determined an assault had occurred, resulting in her death.
Kallay is in jail on no bond and is expected to be in court September 12 for a preliminary exam.
