Man arrested after passenger killed in Gwinn motorcycle accident
A woman is dead and a man is facing charges after a motorcycle accident in Gwinn early Saturday morning.
The Forsyth Township Police Department said the accident happened just after 2 a.m. Saturday near The Happy Hour Bar. Police say the operator of the motorcycle, William Toyra Jr. was allegedly driving on M-35 when he collided with the building.
A woman who was riding with him died. Her name is being withheld until the notification of family members.
Toyra was also injured in the accident. He was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated causing death, a charge that carries a penalty of a maximum 15 years in prison. His next court appearance is September 5.
The Chocolay Township Police Department, the Michigan State Police, and the Forsyth Township Fire Department and EMS services assisted at the scene.
