Firefighters battle cabin fire in Forsyth Township

Firefighters from three townships responded to a cabin fire in Forsyth Township Friday.

Crews were called at about 4:15 p.m. to at a cabin on Chain of Lakes Road, about four miles west of M-35.  The cabin was located 4.5 miles down Chain of Lakes Road.

Chain of Lakes Road is a one-lane dirt road, so crews had to haul in water from trucks stationed on Crooked Lakes Road.  By about 6 p.m. Friday, crews had contained most of the blaze except for small area near a wooden stove in the cabin.

The Forsyth Township Police and Fire Departments, the Richmond Township Fire Department, the Sands Township Fire Department, Marquette County Rescue 131 and Forsyth Township EMS responded to the scene.
