Possible $5,000 reward for information in suspicious Pike Lake Grade fire
A possible $5,000 cash reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in a suspicious cabin fire in Newton Township near Gould City.
Deputies from the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office say it happened sometime between August 9th and August 18th. The owner of the hunting camp says he came back from his Hemlock home on the 18th and found the cabin, which he’s owned since 2001, completely burnt to the ground. He also reported that a number of items that had been stored inside appeared to be taken out and burnt independently.
Michigan State Police Fire Investigators examined the scene on Tuesday. They say they have not ruled the fire to be an arson at this time.
According to the owner, a four-wheeler was stolen during the incident. Mackinac County deputies say other property related crimes were reported to authorities around that time that might be related to the case.
Anyone with information leading to an arrest and/or conviction is asked to contact the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 1-800-643-1911 or the Arson Prevention Committee Hotline at 1-800-442-7766. The incident is being referred to as “The Pike Lake Grade Suspicious Fire Case.”
