Chippewa County couple facing CSC and adult abuse charges
Two Drummond Island residents have been arraigned on criminal sexual assault charges involving a victim who is confined to a wheelchair.
James Howard Shaul, 35, and Melissa Ann Greiser, 30, appeared in Chippewa County District Court Wednesday, where they each faced felony charges.
Shaul is charged with one count of second-degree CSC, one count of first-degree vulnerable adult abuse and one count of kidnapping with intent to commit CSC. Shaul is already on the sex offender list from a past CSC conviction and will be treated as a four-time habitual offender. He’s in the Chippewa County Jail without bond.
Greiser, on the other hand, has a $2,000 cash bond. She’s charged with one count of first-degree vulnerable adult abuse.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department says the victim in the case is disabled, very vulnerable and a little bit older with very limited mobility, making the case extremely disturbing. They also expect several more felony charges to be filed for at least one of the suspects.
Shaul and Gresier will be back in court for preliminary exams on August 28th.
