UPDATE: Sheriff investigating Ontonagon house fire
The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the homeowner left for Louisiana Saturday. They have not made personal contact with him yet.
The Michigan State Police Fire Marshal is on scene investigating the cause of the fire.
The investigation is ongoing.

The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a structure fire that occurred overnight Monday in Ontonagon.
Deputies say Negaunee Regional Dispatch sent them and the Ontonagon Village Fire Department to 426 Minnesota Ave. at 1:23 a.m. Explosions that were not natural gas related were reported coming from inside the home. The nearby residences were evacuated.
The Sheriff’s Office says it is unsure if anyone was inside the home during the fire, and they have not received any information about nor can they confirm the whereabouts of the homeowner.
The Fire Marshal was called and will be investigating the scene Monday morning.
