Two children who were reported missing Sunday have been found safely.

The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office received the call around 10:30 p.m. stating that a 7 and 12-year-old had reportedly gone for a walk in a wooded area three hours prior, but had not returned home after nightfall. Deputies were dispatched to the area for a multi-agency search shortly after, which resulted in the safe recovery of both children at about 4:00 a.m.

Police say the missing kids were cold and tired when located and needed to be transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for treatment after they had reunited with their parents. They have since been released.

The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Wisconsin DNR, the Pembine Fire Department, and the Pembine Rescue Squad. Sheriff Sauve says he would like to extend his thanks to the family and friends of the missing children who assisted with the search effort.
