Rollover kills three former NMU students
Alcohol may have been a factor in a rollover crash that killed three former Northern Michigan University students and injured another in Colorado over the 4th of July weekend.
The accident happened Saturday around 2 a.m. on Highway 145 south of Telluride.
The driver, Edward Bollman, 23 of Colorado Springs, and two passengers, Carly Sansone, 21, of Smiths Creek, Michigan, and Garret Laforce, 26, of Littleton, Colorado, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger, Weston Gleiss, 24, of Eagle, Colorado, escaped the vehicle and was found running down the road by a San Miguel County Sheriff’s Deputy. He was transported by EMS from the scene for the treatment of minor injuries.
Police say their vehicle, a Chevrolet Cruze, left the roadway and rolled several times down a steep embankment.
The accident remains under investigation.
