Marquette City Commissioners may face recall
Three members of the Marquette City Commission may have to face a fight at the ballot box in November even though their terms haven’t necessarily expired.
Commissioners Dave Campana, Mike Coyne and Sarah Reynolds are the subjects of a recall petition filed with the Marquette County Clerk’s office.
Deputy Clerk Linda Talsma says the paperwork was filed on Tuesday. Talsma says the petition cites ‘yes’ votes by Campana, Coyne and Reynolds to allow the Upper Peninsula Community Rowing Club to build a boathouse on the beach at Founders Landing as the reason behind the attempted recall.
The Marquette County Election Commission will hold a hearing at 9 a.m. on July 2nd regarding the clarity and facts of the ballot language. The clarity hearing will take place in Marquette County Probate Court.
If the Election Commission approves the language, the petition will be allowed to go out for signatures.
