Negaunee Township apartment complex evacuated due to threats

A Negaunee Township apartment complex had to be evacuated Friday night after police received multiple reports of a subject making threats to other occupants in the building.

Troopers from the Negaunee Post of the Michigan State Police were dispatched to the scene around 10:17 p.m. Due to the nature of the threats, additional agencies responded to the scene ahead of the evacuation. The subject who made the threats was then taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Marquette County Jail on misdemeanor charges.

No names or specifics regarding the type of threat are being released at this time as the incident remains under investigation for possible additional charges.

Troopers were assisted on scene by officers from the Marquette City Police Department, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, the Northern Michigan University Police Department, and the American Red Cross.
