Gogebic County asks Governor Snyder to delcare state of emergency
Gogebic County Emergency Management officials have requested that Governor Rick Snyder declare a state of emergency in the county due to ongoing issues stemming from this year’s harsh winter.
Officials cite numerous cases of freezing and breaking water lines within the county. Delta County made a similar request yesterday after several water spouts were seen coming out of the Escanaba water treatment plant.
Snyder declared a state of emergency in Marquette County last week because of frozen and burst pipes. While the declaration does not guarantee financial assistance from the state, it does allow a county to apply for disaster aid that it wouldn’t be able to access otherwise.
