Paying it forward with “Pink Power” – Walk-A-Thon

Paying it forward in pink.

That’s the mission for U.P. Pink Power volunteers as they walk to the beat this Saturday while raising money to purchase AED’s – Automated External Defibrillators for the U.P.

Kicking off at Tall Timber Grocery store in Gwinn, volunteers and supporters won’t stop until they reach Gary’s Knotty Pine in Arnold.

In total, they’ll travel 17 miles to raise money and save countless lives. The AED’s will be purchased to support Dickinson, Marquette and Delta Counties.

“If someone happens to drop down because of a heart attack, anybody can grab the AED, it has a step-by-step procedure on what to do.  We have a Hawaiian them stop, just to see people come out, it’s amazing, people care,” said Laurie VanDamme, U.P. Pink Power, Committee Member.

Registered, non–registered, 17 mile walkers and one–mile trekkers are invited out on Saturday at 8 a.m. to join in on the spirit of Hope, Strength and Love that these volunteers say is at the core of their mission.

Pink Power clothing and gear will also be for sale to assist in the fundraising efforts.
