Ontonagon woman in jail on $50,000 bond for felonious assault
An Ontonagon woman remains lodged in the county jail this morning on a $50,000 bond after she was arrested on felonious assault charges Wednesday night.
Audrey Johnston, 24, was arraigned Thursday in Ontonagon County District Court for one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, and one count of assaulting, resisting, or obstructing a police officer.
The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office says those charges stem from an incident that occurred Wednesday night around 8:15 p.m. when a deputy responded to a complaint of verbal threats. Police say while the deputy was inside the residence Johnston came out of a bedroom holding a knife. The deputy reportedly gave several verbal commands before Johnston eventually dropped the knife and surrendered peacefully.
Johnston will be back in court for a preliminary exam within the next two weeks.
