State Police investigating tour bus fire
PERKINS — Troopers with the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post are investigating a fire that destroyed a tour bus Wednesday afternoon in Delta County.
At approximately 1:00 p.m., a 60-year-old Gwinn man was driving a 45′ tour bus on M-35 near Perkins when it caught fire. The man was the only occupant in the bus and he was able to escape unharmed.
By time troopers arrived, the bus was fully engulfed in flames. The fire is said to have started in the engine compartment and is believed to be mechanical in nature.
The bus is considered to be a total loss. M-35 was reduced to a single lane while fire crews battled the blaze.
