Winter Parking Ban in Ishpeming

ISHPEMING, Mich (WBUP) — The City of Ishpeming Winter Parking Ban goes into effect this Sunday, November 1st and goes until April 30th, 2021.

The ban prohibits parking a vehicle on any street in the city between 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

The winter parking ban allows snow plows to clear the streets overnight so residents and guests can make it to there destinations safely during the day.

The fine for violating the city ordinance is $50, but if a vehicle is interfering with snow plowing then it could be towed at the owners expense, according to the Ishpeming Police Department.

As snow piles up over the winter, it adds distractions and the Ishpeming City Manager wants to make sure the roads are clear to help keep the community safe.
